Fees
Legal fees appear complex and difficult to comprehend but RHL Solicitors Limited will ensure that we fully explain our fees, in particular:
- How they are calculated.
- Likely overall costs in pursuing your claim.
- Any potential additional costs.
- Cost contributions payable by you to us.
- Costs payable by you to a third party.
Each claim is different and we will work with you to consider all the available options, however our normal methods of funding are:
Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA)
This is a financial risk free option, in short if you lose your case you will not have to pay our fees and this is the risk we take on your behalf. If your claim succeeds we take a percentage of your damages which the Government has set to a maximum of 25%.
Legal Expense Insurance (ATE)
Should you wish to proceed on a CFA basis we may advise you to take out an after-the -event (ATE) insurance policy to indemnify you for any expenses (disbursements) incurred and any third party costs liability you incur whilst pursuing your case. The insurance premium will be deferred (not payable immediately), self-insured (if you lose or are ordered to pay the third party costs the policy premium is not payable by you) but it will be deducted from your compensation should you win in addition to the 25% referred to above.
Legal Expense Insurance (BTE)
We will investigate the possibility of funding your case through a before-the-event (BTE) insurance policy. This is a service which is attached to some insurance policies and other financial products. It may cover part or all of your legal costs and your solicitor will discuss this option if it is available.
Trade Union Membership
Some membership organisation offer legal cover within the membership benefits. If you are a member of such an organisation you should inform your solicitor who will be able to give you assistance and advise on the options available.
